“Away, away, whoever is profane.”
Callimachus · Hymn to Apollo
Claros is an editorial practice in the classical temper: proofreading, copy editing, and counsel for think tanks, scholars, and institutions.
† Unless requested otherwise, each level of service includes the preceding services.
Providing as much notice as possible, you can email your text to editor@claroseditorial.com with any notes, designate a deadline, and the work will be returned to you by or prior to that date.
I have not once been late in returning work. I can accommodate your busy schedule.
Throughout my academic career I was often told that I was a good writer. Academic writing is very often not the clearest or most pleasing to read, but I felt it important to affect a level of clarity and simplicity of style that would best convey the ideas I had in my head. Good writing does not announce itself as good writing, or reach for sophisticated diction without need. When the writing is good it gets out of its own way; complex ideas are rendered easy to digest; the writer and reader see eye-to-eye.
In 2017 I began editing academic documents for my peers. This included master’s theses and doctoral dissertations across the fields of politics, anthropology, history, sports medicine, religious studies, civil engineering, and philosophy, among others.
Starting in 2022 and continuing to today, I edit policy documents for think tanks. In four years, I have edited well over one hundred documents. Past and present clients include:
“The Fraser Institute has used Justin Yule as a freelance editor to edit various papers on public policy since 2023. He performs edits with skill, ensuring clarity, correct spelling and grammar, and stays true to the author’s voice. He is pleasant, efficient, and professional, and completes assignments within the specified time period.”

“Great is the stream of the Assyrian river, but much filth of earth and much refuse it carries on its waters. And not of every water do the Melissae carry to Deo, but of the trickling stream that springs from a holy fountain, pure and undefiled, the very crown of waters.”
Whether you have a manuscript ready for proofreading or a larger editorial collaboration in mind, I’d be glad to hear from you. Send your text along with any notes and your deadline, and the work will be returned to you by or prior to that date.
